If you fancy yourself as a bit of a music connoisseur, as someone who’s the first to know about hot new artists, then you need to get yourself onto Tradiio. Tradiio is a free platform that lets you listen to new music from up and coming artists, but here’s where it is different from the likes of Spotify or Soundcloud – you’ll be given virtual coins to invest in the artists and the songs that you like, which is why it’s been referred to as the stock market for emerging markets.

The Lisbon based startup has managed to gamify music streaming and is offering listeners real-world rewards. Rather than offering a completely passive experience Tradiio is putting the power into listeners hands and shaping them into the next generation of talent spotters by allowing them to discover and virtually invest in new artists. You’ll be able to earn more currency as you complete missions – for example listening to two new hip-hop songs. Only 10 songs can be invested in at a time so you’re encouraged to keep your portfolio fresh as tracks move up and down the charts.

The best part is you’ll be rewarded for making smart choices; you could win field day tickets, Bleep Download store vouchers or Sonos speakers. If you’ve backed a band and they’re playing in a venue near you, you’ll have direct access to the guestlist. Obviously there’s a social aspect to the platform too, and users that have the best ear for spotting talent gain credibility and a reputation and will earn more virtual coins.

For artists Tradiio acts as a launchpad, giving them a chance to gain credibility and exposure while also offering them rewards and opportunities. Thanks to strong partnerships, Tradiio can reward musicians with things like a slot on the Tradiio stage at Field Day, access to studio time or the chance to make a music video. For example, artists who are featured as Track of the Day get 100 Tradiios and they can cash these in for music gear etc.

Tradiio is available via website or app, so check it out and see if you can discover and support your new favourite artist while being rewarded at the same time.
