Startup to Watch: Taxify
This week’s startup to watch come from tech hub Estonia, mobile taxi app, Taxify, the fastest growing transport technology company in the Baltics and Eastern Europe.
Taxify has developed a mobile application available on iPhone and Android devices that allows users to connect with local taxi and private drivers. By utilising technology, the app brings together the same convenience of Uber to the independent licensed licensed taxi industry, and allows firms to compete with the monopoly Uber possesses.
The app allows you to choose a taxi based on what time you would like it to arrive and offers a comprehensive price list. Once the taxi has been requested, the users can view the model of the car and see other feedback ratings, as well as see the taxi arriving on the map in real time. And like Uber users can pay via the Taxify app.
Founded in 2013 by entrepreneur Markus Villig, the Estonian company has been quick to expand and is currently operating in 10 countries with plans to further develop into other markets. Since 2013, it has raised €1.5 million in investment, some of that from fellow Estonian startups, Skype and Pipedrive, we’re sure this startup is going to go from strength to strength so keep watch.
