STARTUP WATCH: GoEuro
This week’s startup to watch is Berlin based GoEuro, the travel platform with a difference.
GoEuro is a travel booking app that allows you to plan and book a trip across Europe using a number of different transport modes comparing your travel options and prices all in one convenient app.
With one simple search GoEuro provides all the trains, buses, hire cars and flights available to coincide with your personal travel needs, giving you a comprehensive list of the best options for your travel plans, placing prominence on time and price.
Currently, GoEuro allows users to book journeys with more than 500 European transport operators providing extensive travel across 12 European countries, simplifying long distance European travel. The startup also enables travelers both in Europe and further afield to book tickets on their mobile phones, which founder Naren Shaam hopes will encourage more overseas visitors to utilize other transport alternatives and in doing so visit new areas.
Founder Naren Shaam established GoEuro after travelling around Europe himself upon finishing Harvard and whilst visiting 14 countries he realized firsthand how complicated it could be to navigate the different transport options across countries. Initially, Shaam set about starting up in New York but after months of research he took the decision to startup in tech hub Berlin. Since then the team has grown to 150 people from across 34 countries and has attracted around $146 million in venture funding in four and a half years. Most recently GoEuro just received another $70 million in funding and now has on average 10 million users a month.
With this new round of funding GoEuro is considering expanding into the South East Asia market, opening up a whole new travel experience which we can’t wait to explore!
